Born in Hawai'i, Shanyn later moved to California as a child. There, she would know the pure beauty that San Diego has to offer. Always twenty minutes away from a beach, Shanyn spent her days growing up in East County rummaging through the Swap Meets and eating Taco Shop. Lots, and lots of Taco Shop.
Shanyn would later move to Los Angeles, and then on to Austin, Texas.
Shanyn's first job was at fifteen years old. She spotted a "Now Hiring" sign in the window of a Sushi restaurant. Eager to learn more about Japanese culture, Shanyn was immediately hired to wash dishes on busy weekend nights. In addition to learning hard work (and also learning to avoid getting wasabi in your eye), Shanyn picked up basic Japanese language phrases and a yearning to one day advance in a career.
Since then, Shanyn has worked for multiple luxury hotels, including the highly-profiled "Beverly Hilton" hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.
Furthering her professional skills outside of the hospitality industry, Shanyn is now an active and passionate employee of the aviation world. She is currently working for Virgin America, where she spent one year at the corporate office in San Francisco part of a redesign team, updating and training curriculum.
In addition, Shanyn has held numerous internship positions for start-ups and marketing agencies. Shanyn is also a freelance writer, contracted for pieces ranging from subscription box reviews to celebrity blog posts.
You are welcome to view Shanyn's profile on LinkedIn for a more in-depth look into her career.
Shanyn is currently developing a prose book about her time growing up in Southern CA titled "California Burrito."
Shanyn is also working toward launching her podcast, "Hey, Man: a podcast for Women" that will center around pro-feminist topics and debate.
